Interested in becoming a Paramedic and serving your community?
Greene County is helping qualified candidates pursue Paramedic certification by providing financial support for the cost of training. Through the Greene County Paramedic Training Awards, the County is providing training awards of up to $14,500 each toward the cost of completing an approved Paramedic training program.
Who Is Eligible?
Candidates must be sponsored by an eligible emergency medical services (EMS) provider that holds a Certificate of Need (CON). (In New York State, a Certificate of Need authorizes an EMS agency to provide service within an approved operating territory.)
What Does the Award Cover?
Eligible candidates may receive up to $14,500 toward the cost of Paramedic training, including tuition, books and study materials for an accredited program approved by Greene County.
The County may pay tuition directly to the training institution or reimburse the recipient for eligible tuition costs already paid. Travel and travel-related expenses are not covered.
What You’ll Commit To
The Greene County Paramedic Training Awards are designed to help individuals earn their Paramedic certification while strengthening emergency medical services throughout Greene County. Award recipients will enter into an agreement with Greene County and commit to:
- Successfully completing an accredited Paramedic program approved by Greene County;
- Passing the New York State Department of Health (DOH) Division of Emergency Medical Services certification exams; and
- Actively serving as a Paramedic within Greene County for a provider with a Certificate of Need (CON) for at least four years.
