Greene County offers a variety of grants to support community organizations in their endeavors to make Greene County a great place to live, work and recreate.

The Wayne C. Speenburgh Greene County Grant Program

The Greene County Legislature has grant funding available for youth, senior, veteran and other eligible not-for-profit organizations to benefit residents of Greene County. County funds may be used for projects and events that will enhance the quality of life for residents and provide educational and cultural activities. Other requests will be considered.

Important Information Regarding Grants:

Grant funds are awarded in any amount up to $1,000.00. This amount may be increased under special circumstances at the sole discretion of the Legislature.

Special Notes:

  • Grants can only be given to groups or organizations that can establish accounting procedures to receive funds and document the expenditure of funds.
  • The Greene County Legislature should not be seen as a long-term funding source.
  • Submitting an application does not guarantee selection. Getting funded one year does not guarantee funding another year.
  • Review or approval of any application is not based on gender, race, religion, nationality or any other protected class.

Greene County Cares Fund

An Ongoing Partnership between the Greene County Legislature and the Columbia-Greene Community College Foundation

New paths to college degrees, professional certificates, and personal development have been forged for Greene County residents through the creation of the Greene County Cares Fund.

The Greene County Cares Fund launched on August 17, 2020 following approval of a resolution by the Greene County Legislature directing $181,600 to the Columbia-Greene Community College Foundation. Since then, the funding has provided annual scholarship assistance to Greene County students seeking to enroll in credit and/or non-credit classes during the academic year.

Greene Light to Enrollment Fund: providing tuition support for recent Greene County high school graduates and non-traditional students seeking to earn a degree or certificate.

Greene County residents interested in scholarship assistance through the Greene Light to Enrollment Fund are encouraged to find more information on the Columbia-Greene Community College website.

Greene County Cultural Fund

History:

Greene County Legislature has allocated funds to major arts and cultural organizations within Greene County and has taken an active role in the delivery of arts programs and services. Greene County continues to have a positive impact on the state of the artistic and cultural quality of life in Greene County.

Purpose:

The purpose of this program is to provide general operating or programmatic support to major Greene County organizations that offer quality professional services and programs of benefit to the residents of Greene County. This funding is intended to promote the development, growth, and viability of major cultural organizations. Please note: Organizations receiving funds from state and federal agencies, including the New York State Council on the Arts, should apply to this fund. Organizations applying through the NYSCA Decentralization Program may not apply to this program.

Who Can Apply:

• Organizations that have been resident in Greene County for at least two years.

• Organizations that provide regularly scheduled or full seasonal cultural programs and/or services in Greene County.

• Organizations that, generally, have annual operating budgets more than $20,000 including in-kind contributed services and goods. Please note: Previously funded organizations must have submitted a final report to be eligible for future funding. Any organization that has not submitted a final report will not be considered.
