Alternative Fuel Vehicles

New York State is offering a number of incentives to develop the use of alternative fueled/‘green’ vehicles also referred to as ‘zero-emission vehicles’ (ZEVs) such as hybrid passenger vehicles, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) passenger vehicles, and battery electric (BEV) passenger vehicle and hybrid transit buses.

Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles (EVs) save money and reduce air pollution. Compared to gasoline-powered cars, EVs are more energy-efficient and cost about 50 to 70 percent less to operate per mile. New York State is focused on raising awareness of technology and supporting the installation of more charging stations to make it easy to travel anywhere in New York in an electric car.

Understanding Charging Options

Drive Clean Rebate

The Drive Clean Rebate offers electric vehicle (EV) buyers up to $2,000 off the purchase or lease of 60+ new EV models. Participating car dealerships are responsible for applying for the point-of-sale rebate on behalf of the customer, providing an upfront discount.

HOW THE REBATE WORKS

NYSERDA Charging Station Programs

Electric vehicle adoption is rapidly accelerating in New York – as many as three million electric vehicles (EVs) are expected to be on the road statewide by 2030. New York State offers several charging station programs that provide incentives and discounts on the installation of charging stations.

Charge Ready NY

Charge Ready NY offers per-port rebates to public, private, and non-profit organizations that install Level 2 EV charging stations at workplaces, hotels, and multifamily buildings. Charging stations typically have one or two plugs, or charging ports, per station. Level 2 stations provide up to 25 miles of electric range to cars for each hour they are charging.
