Town/County Property Tax

The fiscal year for town and county taxes is January 1 through December 31. Tax bills are sent to property owners in January and are due by January 31.

Late Payments
After January, the current tax year is still payable with interest to the Town Tax Collector until July 31. Please contact your local Town Tax Collector for the amount due during this collection period. After July 31, unpaid taxes will be passed to the Greene County Treasurer’s Office as delinquent.

Village Property Taxes

The Village Tax fiscal year is June 1 through May 31. Village tax bills are sent to property owners within the village limits in June of each year and are due to the Village Tax Collector by June 31.

Late Payments
Village taxes can still be paid to the village for a period of time after June 31, but will be collected with interest. Exact final payment dates with interest vary with each village each year. Please contact your local Village Tax Collector for the amount due during the collection period and final payment date before unpaid taxes will be passed to the Greene County Treasurer’s Office as delinquent.

School Tax Bills

The central school district fiscal year is July 1 through June 30. Central school district school tax bills are sent to property owners in September of each year and are payable without interest to the school district by September 30.

Delinquent Taxes

Village & School

The Greene County Treasurer’s Office collects unpaid central school district and village taxes after the district/village’s final collection date (generally November 1st) with an additional 5% fee. Payment must be in the form of a certified check, cashier’s check, or money order made payable to Greene County Treasurer. If paying in person, we accept cash, certified checks, cashier’s checks and money orders.

If these taxes are not paid by the last business day of November, an additional penalty is added and the village or school tax will be relevied (added to) the following year’s county/town tax bill. POSTMARKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

Town & County

The Greene County Treasurer’s office collects unpaid town and county taxes after July 31 of each year. Payment may be in the form of a check, certified check, cashier’s check or money order made payable to the Greene County Treasurer. If paying in person, we accept cash, checks and credit cards*.  E-checks**, credit* and debit cards are accepted over the telephone.

Credit Card Payments and E-Checks are Accepted for Delinquent Town & County Taxes

Greene County accepts credit card payments for the payment of delinquent taxes. The name on the credit card must be the name of the person paying.

We accept MASTERCARDVISA and DISCOVER.

*Taxpayers paying their delinquent taxes by credit card will be charged a transaction processing fee of 2.49%.

**Greene County accepts e-check payments for the payment of delinquent taxes  with a $2.00 transaction processing fee.

**There are certain times of the year when certified funds are required and payment must be in the form of a Cashier’s Check, Money Order or Cash.**
